The AMSA chapter at Miami University has two primary goals as a pre-professional body: to build the resumes of its members by providing community service opportunities and to provide exposure and interactions with individuals involved in the medical field such as physicians, medical students, and admission committee representatives. We encourage a sense of fellowship between students and facilitate communication among different graduating classes by utilizing a mentee/mentor program. AMSA at Miami University wants to make every individual the best medical school applicant possible by providing the knowledge and tools necessary to be successful. Nationally, the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States (AMSA Foundation, 2010).

Mission
To develop and facilitate member interest in regards to Anatomy and Physiology
through education and exploration. Through this organization, members will further
develop their interest in anatomy through educational activities relating to such topics,
exploration of career paths utilizing knowledge of such sciences, and socializing with
other clubs with the goal of developing outside interests, networking, and co-hosting
volunteering and fundraising events. Philanthropic projects will entail fundraising and
volunteering with the goal of supporting charitable and worthwhile causes representing
physical ailments and disorders. It is the ultimate goal of this organization that members
will continuously increase knowledge and interest in Anatomy & Physiology and science
in general. It is the executive board's mission to encourage curiosity in the sciences and
provide opportunities for members to further explore their passions in the sciences.
Member recruitment and retention will be slightly selective, but will not be exclusive to
science majors, but rather anyone who is interested in these topics. Senior members
will assist and support younger members in any way possible, such as scheduling,
testing, material mastery, as well as general sense of fellowship and camaraderie.
Candidate selection for executive board positions will be at the discretion of the present
executive board and take place every fall in order for a spring transition.

APC provides many hands-on experiences through different skill clinics, certifications, unique dissections, and events for service and philanthropy. Many of our members are pre-health, so they get connected with peers and mentors on the same path, but we are open to all students of any major!

Eta Sigma Gamma (ESG) is a nationally recognized honor society for health education majors. ESG's mission is to promote the discipline by raising the standards, ideals, competency, and ethics for men and women who are being professionally prepared in Health Education. ESG allows students who are passionate about health education to connect with like minded peers and further develop their professional goals. ESG gives students an opportunity to network with professionals, expand on education outside of the classroom, and promote public health on campus.

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s mission is especially critical when considering the acute shortage of qualified workers for the health care industry. This shortage has been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Spring of 2020 countless doctors and nurses returned to the frontline out of retirement and medical school allowed students to graduate early to fight the pandemic. HOSA is a viable solution to health industry shortages.

There are a multitude of benefits such as being able to compete in the State Leadership Conference, fundraise for organizations such as NMDP and Tiny Tots Health Initiative, send cards to Dayton Children's Hospital, do health marketing in Kroger/Walmart, and meet so many people interested in pre-health pathways!

Med Minds Matter is an organization that provides premedical students with a supportive community that focuses on the mental well-being of students under the pressures of pursuing a career in medicine. The purpose of the organization is to create an uplifting environment for students pursuing a career in medicine that provides students with an outlet from the rigorous academics and challenges of the medical field. This organization allows individuals to focus on their mental health and provides resources for students t strengthen their mental well-being and leadership skills.

The Miami Chemical Society welcomes all students with interests in chemistry by providing social, academic, and professional opportunities to members.  MCS also sponsors educational events for other Miami students and for the public. MCS provides a great opportunity to meet students with similar interests, gain exposure at national events, grow as scientists by meeting with visiting researchers and faculty from around the country, and share a passion for science both on campus and in the Oxford community.

The mission of Nu Rho Psi: (1) encourage professional interest and excellence in scholarship, particularly in neuroscience; (2) award recognition to students who have achieved such excellence in scholarship; (3) advance the discipline of neuroscience; (4) encourage intellectual and social interaction between students, faculty, and professionals in neuroscience and related fields; (5) promote career development in neuroscience and related fields; (6) increase public awareness of neuroscience and its benefits for the individual and society; and (7) encourage service to the community. Undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty interested in Neuroscience are invited to participate in helping us achieve these goals. Additionally, as a local chapter (Gamma) of the National Nu Rho Psi organization, Miami Nu Rho Psi members also have the potential to become lifetime members in the National Neuroscience Honor Society.

Miami University’s Pre-Physician Associate Club, also known as the Pre-PA Club, is a student organization dedicated to supporting students as they prepare for a career as a Physician Associate (PA). The club provides guidance, resources, mentorship, and opportunities that help students better understand PA school requirements, the application process, the PA student experience, and the PA profession as a whole. Through involvement in the club, students are able to connect with practicing PAs, PA students, faculty, and peers who share similar academic and professional goals.

The club is committed to creating an encouraging and supportive environment for students of all majors who are interested in pursuing the PA profession. To accomplish this, the club assists members with PA school preparation, increases awareness of the career field, provides networking opportunities with professionals and peers, and encourages meaningful engagement through shadowing, volunteering, service, and hands-on experiences. Overall, the Pre-PA Club seeks to make the pathway to becoming a PA more clear and accessible while empowering students to feel confident, informed, and prepared for their future careers as PAs.
