Jim Cummings

Voice Actor - "The Voice Behind Your Childhood"

Jim Cummings is one of the most prolific and influential voice actors in entertainment history. For more than four decades, his voice has shaped animation, film, television, music, and video games at a scale unmatched in the modern era. With over 1,500 credited roles, he stands in rare company. Not since Mel Blanc has a single performer carried such range, volume, and cultural reach.

Cummings is best known as the longtime voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, a role he has held for nearly forty years, carrying two of the most beloved characters across generations of families. He has brought to life many iconic characters including Darkwing Duck, Pete, Hondo Ohnaka, and countless others across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Warner Brothers, Netflix, and major studios worldwide. His performances appear in 15 Academy Award–nominated films, including multiple Oscar winners such as The Lion King and Aladdin, underscoring the breadth and prestige of the projects his voice has anchored.

Beyond dialogue, Cummings is a powerhouse vocalist whose musical contributions are deeply woven into animation history. He performed on multi-platinum and gold soundtracks including The Lion King, where he sang much of “Be Prepared,” as well as Pocahontas, The Princess and the Frog, and Anastasia. His collaborations span some of the most respected names in music and film scoring, including Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz, Randy Newman, Hans Zimmer, the Sherman Brothers, and Elton John. His work places him in a rare category of performers equally respected for voice acting and musical performance.

Cummings was also among the early pioneers of voice acting in video games, lending his talent to some of the industry’s earliest and most influential titles and franchises such as voicing all 18 characters in “Baldurs Gate” as well as “Fallout” and “Grand Theft Auto GTA 5”.

In recent years, Cummings has emerged as one of the most compelling storytellers of the craft itself. His podcast, Toon’d In with Jim Cummings, has amassed nearly 40 million downloads, becoming a destination for fans and industry peers alike. The podcast has consistently ranked in the top 20 film podcasts in North America (iTunes, Apple). The show features conversations with fellow legends and creators, offering rare insight into the artistry, discipline, and legacy of voice acting. Across platforms, his digital audience exceeds 24 million, reflecting a global, multigenerational fanbase that continues to grow.

As one of the most recognized voices in animation history, Jim Cummings’ career work is timeless, shaping the characters, imaginations, and emotions of fans around the world. For millions, it is the sound of childhood. For the industry, it is the standard.
